Beaminster, Dorset
Beaminster is a charming little town tucked away in a Dorset valley not far from the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast and just a few miles from Bridport. There’s not a great deal here but its nice for a browse around, with a few independent shops, a small museum and some very nice places to stop for a bite to eat, including Brassica and The Ollerod. It’s one of those places that if you take the time to stroll about, down the little side streets and that, you’ll discover that it’s all rather lovely, with some pretty cottages and quite imposing larger houses, some of them centuries old.
Beaminster is a good starting point for walks in the Dorset hills too; leave your car in town and wander as far as you like. Nearby are Mapperton House & Gardens and Donkey Walking Adventures.
