Exmouth Land Train, Exmouth, Devon
If you take a trip to Exmouth when you’re on your family holidays in Devon, leave your car in one of the long stay car parks and use the Exmouth Land Train to get around. It’s a unique way of doing things and it’s fun, the kids will love it.
If you want to get a feel for the town do the whole circuit which takes about an hour; enjoy seeing the sights, taking in the coastal views and listening to the onboard commentary. The train picks up from the main long stay car parks and goes around the town centre, along the seafront and out to the marina. There are 12 designated stops along the way so you can hop on and off to explore as you wish. Alight at the seafront and while away an hour or two on the beach, get out on the waters for watersports, with hire available from Edge Watersports; sit back for a leisurely tour of the bay with Stuart Line Cruises, take a picnic to Manor Gardens, or go to The Grove or Mickey’s Beach Bar & Restaurant for lunch. You could go crabbing or rockpooling, see what you can win in the amusements, or, book ahead and go out to sea to catch your supper on a fishing trip.
Exmouth Land Train has three carriages, each carrying 20 passengers; pushchairs can be folded up and carried on board, dogs are allowed but they must be kept on a lead. Depending on the weather, the carriages can be fully enclosed or open sided.
