Lydney, Gloucestershire

Lydney is a quiet town in Gloucestershire, nestled on the banks of the River Severn; it has a range of shops and places to eat, a leisure centre, and an open air swimming pool. Not many towns this small can boast an historic harbour, a 12th century castle AND a steam railway! Climb aboard and enjoy an old fashioned ride through the beautiful Forest of Dean, with its plethora of walks, cycle paths, adventure centres, and art trails. If you're peckish, they say The Real Deal Pie and Cake Company is good, and Taurus Crafts and Cafe on the edge of town.
