Lyme Bay, Dorset
Lyme Bay is part of the English Chanel on the Dorset and Devon coast and part of the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast, famous for its unique geology and needless to say, popular with fossil hunters as well as sea anglers and those who like water sports.
The beautiful scenery and more temperate weather conditions make the area a much loved holiday destination and if you’re staying at one of our luxury large group holiday properties in Somerset or Devon you should definitely plan a day trip. Top hot spots include Lyme Regis ‘The Pearl of Dorset’ where you can browse the shops, stroll along the promenade and historic cobb, or play on the beach; visit the quaint fishing village of Beer and go out on a boat catching mackerel, or to Regency Sidmouth with its striking red sandstone cliffs. Exmouth is good too, with a long stretch of sandy beach, and some of the quieter villages are a delight for spuddling about in the rockpools, walking the dog on the cliff tops, or just sitting and watching the world go by. We recommend Charmouth, Axmouth, Seaton, Branscombe, or Burton Bradstock where you can find some great places to eat and catch some wonderful sunsets.
