The Stags Head, Dunster, Somerset
Go to the Stags Head in Dunster and you’ll find a traditional village pub, oozing with 16th century character, so expect plenty of exposed timbers, bumpy walls and chunky ceiling beams. It’s easy to find, being right on the main street and is one to earmark for a hearty pub lunch after a visit to Dunster Castle or a walk up to Grabbbist Ridge and back. Choose from the likes of Exmoor Ale battered cod and chips, Beef lasagne, Butcher’s sausage and mash, Somerset cider chicken, Fish Pie, and Chickpea and vegetable curry, all homemade using the abundance of local produce to be found in this wonderful corner of Exmoor National Park. Out the back there’s a beer garden with delightful views of wooded hillsides; the thing to remember is that it’s not a big place, so if there are 14 or more of you, you’ll need to pre-order.
