Thorncombe Reviews

10/10 - Thank you for such an amazing stay. The house and pool was truly fantastic. The added touch of the welcome package on arrival was really nice. We can’t think of anything that would have improved our stay, we will definitely be coming back again some time soon. Thank you. Dunster castle and gardens is a great day out. They have loads to see and do.- Minihane

10/10 - Loved the cleanliness of the whole house, en suite facilities perfect for extended families. Could perhaps leave pint of milk and ketchup in fridge. Info folder is out of date. We visited Minehead Beach. - McNulty

10/10 - We had a brilliant family weekend at Thorncombe, celebrating my 60th birthday, everything we needed was there. We all thoroughly enjoyed the Swimming Pools, especially the Grandchildren, which was very clean and lovely and warm. The wine and chocolate cake that Pauline had left for us, was a lovely thoughtful touch. Thank you. - Hibberd

8/10 - I think the property is a bit tired and needs an overhaul. The oven was not big enough to cook a roast for 12, and the dishes provided would not fit in the microwave. Some form of music in the kitchen would be a bonus. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed getting together. The instruction booklet needs addressing it was disgusting it had something spilt over it some time ago and had not been cleaned up and the information was out of date! We commissioned Emily Fairweather with a photoshoot. - Wood

10/10 - The pool. My grandson went there using armbands and came home a swimmer!!! Fantastic time. We all wish we were back there at Thorncombe. We can recommend Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge. - Noto

9/10 - The house was perfect. The only slight grumble was the lack of showers in most bathrooms. - Cleve Family

9/10 - The pool was very cold, not the 32 degrees it was supposed to be! The beds were very comfortable and the hot water was amazing, so fast and consistent at all times. - Latham Family

10/10 - Was amazing from start to finish. The swimming pool was well maintained and the kitchen was well equipped which was handy cooking for a 11 people! Very nice to meet the owner and having a cake and two bottles of wine in the fridge. Visited Dunster Castle and Village. Would highly recommend to friends and family and will be look to visit again soon. - Peckover Family

10/10 - We loved the house and situation. Only slight niggle was can opener did not work, plastic cheese grater and kitchen tools not strong enough when cooking for large numbers. Otherwise a great weekend. - Stone Family

10/10 - We had the best time, the house was beautiful, clean and very inviting. The added bonus of the pool and pool table made for an even better experience. Welcome gift of wine and cake was the finishing touch that made our weekend complete. Thank you so much. Dunster is well worth a visit and we went to Minehead, lovely walk along the beach. Great little cafe called The AppleTree Tea Rooms. Dogs are very welcome and totally spoilt. They also make great food! - Belcher Family

9/10 - Enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the children loved the pool and trampoline. There were 14 of us 8 adults and 5 children and 1 baby and plenty of room for all of us. We didn't feel cramped at all. Bedrooms very comfortable. We would recommend a day trip to Diggerland! - Darling Family

10/10 - The facilities at the property were great we stayed at the proeprty and had quality family time. Would certianly use sleeps12 again. - Andrews Family

8/10 - Having the indoor pool and the pool table was perfect - it didn't matter what the weather was like, we all enjoyed ourselves. The kids were really sad to leave and already talking about next year and staying for longer. There are small improvements/repairs needed in the house and we left a list on the table in case you just didn't know about them. The one we missed off was that the grill wasn't working properly. With some attention to those bits of detail, I would have given the house a 10! We ventured out of the property and throughly enjoyed the Steam Railway and the nearby pub that had an old fashioned skittle alley. We just went one stop because we had little kids and 90 mins each way was too long. It was an unexpectedly great day! - Leary-Joyce Family

9/10 - Fantastic having private pool, trampoline and pool table. Beds very comfortable, kitchen very well equipped and the whole house well laid out. Thank you. - Shaw Family

10/10 - We were a party of 13, 10 adults and 3 children. The house is beautiful and accommodated all of us easily. There was so much space. The rooms were all laid out beautifully with comfortable beds and TVs. The kitchen was very well equipped and had EVERYTHING you could possibly need. A stunning cake was provided too which was a lovely surprise. We had multiple pool tournaments on the fantastic table and endless fun in the pool. Movie nights were lovely in the spacious living room. The children loved the trampoline and we managed to squeeze in a family BBQ as the weather wasn't really on our side. The views were lovely and the peacefulness was bliss. The owner Tim was lovely and made us all feel welcome. Overall I would recommend this house to anyone looking to have a family break away from home. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back. Thank you Thorncombe for the memories made 26-30 June 2017. - Isaac Family

10/10 - Thorncombe has been great for us. Two families of four and Nanny and Grandad. Great space for us all to be in. The kids range from 2yrs to 7yrs and have been in the pool every day and enjoyed the pool table along with the Dads. The room layout for bedtime was perfect. There have been lots of things to do within 45 mins which has satisfied all - pubs, train trips and zoos. - Cripps and Warings
