Torquay, Devon
Soak up the air of the English Riviera at Torquay on the Devon coast. Stroll along the pier or the promenade, gaze out to sea from the Royal Terrace Gardens, indulge in some retail therapy in top brand and independent shops, take in the sights on the Torquay Land Train or on a boat trip around the bay, meet seals, penguins and otters at Living Coasts, visit 800 year old Torre Abbey, subterranean Kents Cavern, or Agatha Christie’s house. Tuck into a traditional Devon cream tea at Burridges Tearooms overlooking the harbourside, or Rose Cottage Tea Gardens in the picture postcard nearby village of Cockington. The best beaches for family fun are Torre Abbey Sands or Corbyn Head, with all the amenities you need, though these have restrictions for dogs.
