Withypool, Exmoor, Somerset
If you really want to feel the pace of life slow down and soak up the unspoilt ambience of Exmoor, pootle over to Withypool where you’ll find a peaceful and picturesque village set amidst the most beautiful scenery. You’ll love it; there’s a village shop and a pub, The Royal Oak, and from Easter to October, a tea room where there’s something you certainly don’t see very often these days – a 1950’s petrol station!
The River Barle flows beneath a six arch stone bridge in the centre of the village; stroll along its banks to Landacre Bridge, or if you fancy a good 9 mile circular walk, to Tarr Steps and back over Withypool Hill. You’ll be rewarded with copious fresh country air and stunning views, well worth any aches and pains you might feel the next day.
