At the foot of the Quantock Hills in Somerset, Crowcombe is one of five luxury timber-clad holiday lodges set on a small private site. Each lodge has its own private pool and is ideal for big family holidays or for special celebrations with the people you love most in the world. 6 double bedrooms sleep up to 14 guests and there's a sofa bed for 1 extra guest at a small additional charge. There’s also a games area, play equipment, and a private garden with a patio that's a real sunspot for summer barbecues.
Just a stone’s throw from the doorstep, you can stride out into the Quantock Hills AONB and walk as far as you like; the scenery is absolutely stunning, with sun-dappled combes to climb and bracken-clad ridges to wander. Pack up a picnic and head for Cothelstone Hill or Wills Neck where the views are incredible, stretching out over the landscape to the sea. Whether you explore on foot, by bike or by car, you won’t have to go far before you stumble across a traditional country pub to stop by for lunch. The Rising Sun at West Bagborough and The Carew Arms at Crowcombe are both good, or just up the road at the Farmers Arms at Combe Florey you can book your own private dining room.
Spend a day gallivanting around Exmoor National Park and take in beauty spots like Tarr Steps and Watersmeet; see the thatched cottages at Selworthy, like something from an old-fashioned chocolate box, and round it off with big fat scones and jam and cream in the tea room. Have a day out on one of the beaches of the Somerset Coast, getting there by steam train with the West Somerset Railway; take your buckets and spades to Minehead to play on the sands, sit and watch the world go by on the harbour at Watchet, or hunt for fossils at Kilve. You’ll enjoy a family day out at Dunster where you can visit the Medieval castle (NT), stroll along the leat to the working water mill, and follow the Tall Trees Trail to spot the tallest tree in England. The young’uns will love you forever if you take them to Tropiquaria Zoo, to Doniford Farm Park or for a big adventure at Brean Theme Park.
If you like history, go to Cleeve Abbey to soak up the incredible tranquillity and see the carved angels high up on the walls of the refectory. If gardens are more your thing, you’ll like Hestercombe House & Gardens and The Walled Gardens of Cannington. For a proper taste of the country, go to Sheppy’s Cider to see how this Somerset’s favourite drink is made, stroll through the apple orchards and visit the Rural Life Museum.
With so much to see and do in this wonderful part of the West Country, and an amazing house like Crowcombe as your base, it'll be a large group stay to remember. Book today!
