Riverside was once two Victorian worker’s cottages, now lovingly converted into one big holiday house that sleeps 12 guests in 6 bedrooms. This is a very special place to stay for large family holidays in the West Country - when all you want to do is get away from it all and spend time with the people you love most in the world, enjoying the peace and quiet and the breathtaking surroundings. The setting is idyllic, tucked back from the lane in a peaceful hamlet on the edge of the Somerset Levels; the River Tone drifts lazily along at the back of the house, the unspoilt views stretch for miles across a landscape abundant in wildlife and birdlife. Inside, the house exudes relaxed country charm and the feels are so homely; if it had arms they would be wrapped softly around you, welcoming you in.

Riverside is so perfect for families because there’s something for all ages; a games room with table tennis, pool and table football, a playroom for the little ones inside, a play area in the secure garden, and a covered hot tub. In the local area there are family attractions, historic houses and gardens to visit, quiet market towns to browse, and welcoming country pubs. The beaches of the Jurassic Coast are less than an hour away, the A358, A303 and M5 are all within easy reach.

"We had a great time Canoeing & Kayaking at the Somerset boat centre - really fun morning for everyone (aged 5 - 55). We then had a quick lunch in the Maunsel Lock tearooms and did the somerset space walk. The children and adults really enjoyed finding the planets and we wished we did this as a day on its own with a picnic. We loved going to Wells Cathedral & Bishops Palace. We also went on market day which was fun. The history and unspoiled architecture was wonderful; make sure you visit Vicars' Close. We spent a day at Burnham on Sea - the beach is fairly empty and more sandy towards berrow (more muddy towards the town which the kids enjoyed!). We walked to and up Burrow Mump - everyone enjoyed that and just about the right distance for a good walk for us all. The house was really well set up and very homely. It worked wonderfully for our party of two families with all the children on the first floor of the main part of the house. The kitchen has all the equipment you need - and more! We lived in their for all our meals - barely used the dining table. The playroom is lovely and the games room/hot tub/swings/garden made our holiday! The sunsets over the river were divine. The welcome hamper was wonderful - the whortleberry jam was a particular hit!"
