9/10 - Beautiful property, plenty of space and boys loved the football pitch. Immediate response from owner/ staff if there was a query/problem. - Summerhayes - Oct 24

10/10 - Whispering Thatch never disappoints, Philippa and Roger present the properties incredibly well and your holiday begins as you walk through the door. It is warm, very clean and very friendly. The grounds are beautiful, we enjoyed lots of fun playing cricket and rounders with a huge amount of space. Stonehayes is surrounded by the most scenic rolling hills of Devon countryside, and the bird song is amazing. We have just returned home having thoroughly enjoyed a family celebration and I wish Philippa and her team much success as they embark on offering another large property to sleep bigger numbers to make special memories for family and friends to enjoy. - Bennett - May 24

9/10 - Loved the lots of space, inside and out, - Whitrod - April 24

10/10 - The space was wonderful for different ages - ranging from 1 to 84 and a dog! Beautiful house and so warm, comfortable and welcoming. Amazing kitchen, loved the wine fridge and that there was everything you could need in there. Utility also very useful! Loved the big table, which was perfect for our large party. We lit the fire in the lounge every evening - lovely! As was the hot tub. Welcome pack was was also a fabulous extra and also had a lovely welcome from the owner, who showed us around and happy to answer and questions. Really cannot fault a thing, the house and grounds are beautiful and was perfect for us all - we didn’t want to leave! - Mannell

10/10 - Whispering Thatch is a really beautiful very old Devon longhouse, easily accessed from the A30 and M5.
It has been sympathetically modernised, with smart new bathrooms and kitchens and is very spacious, even for a large party. The bedrooms are large and well-equipped with large wardrobes etc. There was a very comprehensive range of kitchen equipment, and having the integral, but self-contained apartment gave extra flexibility and an extra kitchen, fridge, stove and dishwasher! The grounds are lovely too, and the hot tub was greatly appreciated by the slightly younger members of our family group. The owner, Pippa was a very welcoming host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

10/10 - Really appreciate the well equipped kitchen. And the extra effort to put up a Christmas tree. - McCandless

10/10 - Very chilled ladies weekend away cannot recommend anything nearby as we stayed in the house although plenty of walking. First class accommodation. Made very welcome on arrival nothing too much trouble. Looking at booking again next year thank you. - Byrne

10/10 - We loved the house - personally, I love old houses and this one was built in 1470 with typical wide cob walls and perfect for our party of 12 - it had masses of room. The hot tub was extremely popular - very good for English weather - day or night. The kitchen island was large enough for all to gather round, with convivial chat and food preparation - involving lots of banter and laughter. The sitting room lovely - we didn’t use the fire but it would be great in the winter. The whole house was beautifully kept with comfortable beds and crisp white bedding. No complaints at all. Thank you. - Emery

10/10 - Enjoyed the spacious beautiful rooms. Friendly people to help if needed. Didn’t quite manage to cook that well on the arga but had fun trying - lucky there was a cooker. The hot tub was well used. Hope to return again with some family. Thanks. - Webber

9/10 - Large hot tub was a particular favourite. - Williams

10/10 - The house was spotlessly clean and it had everything we needed. We had children joining us and could not stop playing hide and seek as the house is so big there are many places to hide! - Fern

10/10 - The house was perfect for a family party. It was so well equipped it felt like home from day 1. The host was lovely and made us feel so welcome with wonderful local produce and all the essentials provided. The house is wonderfully furnished, the hot tub amazing with wonderful views, plenty of space in the grounds to run around, with a excellent well maintained games room and outside play areas loved by the children. The dining area and kitchen was perfect for meals time and the recommended caterer was fantastic. The farmhouse is located in a lovely secluded valley with lovely walks to the old iron age fort direct from the house, with the coast only a short drive away. The stay went far too quick and looking for reason now for another stay! - Anthony

10/10 - The property was really well equipped, comfortable and clean. Finishing touches like homemade cake and presse’s on arrival was a really lovely touch. 9/10 - Whispering Thatch is a spacious, welcoming farm house bursting with character and charm! The rooms are all a great size, everyone was happy with their rooms. The self contained area downstairs was perfect for us with our little dog as well. The garden is stunning as is the hot tub and surrounding fields / river walk. Plenty of family competition in the games room was had along with a game of rounders in the front garden.
Phillipa was a wonderful host who clearly explained everything on arrival and came to see us when we left to check we had a great time, which we really appreciated. We were celebrating a family 21st and 80th birthday at the same time and it was the most perfect location for all ages to celebrate and relax. Highly recommend Whispering Thatch and would return in future!

10/10 - Lovely accomodation ideal for a larger family break. Great location in the countryside but also within easy reach of Sidmouth. 10/10 - Phillipa and Roger were very welcoming and helpful. The Farmhouse was brilliant ... full of character, very spacious, clean, well equipped and with beautiful grounds. It was really good having so many bathrooms and to have a separate annex where my daughter was able to cater for her baby and dog! The hot tub was an absolute delight as were the grounds where we could play rounders and other games.Walking through the fields to the river was a real pleasure. We didn't find time to do everything and will definitely want to return! Our thanks to Phillipa for making this a very special time. We felt privileged to stay in such a lovely place. - Evans

10/10 - Our stay at “Whispering Thatch” was awesome, the property was absolutely brilliant it had everything we needed and more, we all loved the hot tub, and the children loved the playground and the games room was especially good. There was nothing we could say was really bad about it. Well except maybe the weather was not as good as it could have been. Definitely recommend it. - Hunt

9/10 - Whispering Thatchhad a lot of character and we loved the kitchen dining area, very communal. Helpful to have plenty of fridge space and the two dishwashers. We all enjoyed the hot tub, especially an evening session with the lights. The only thing which would have made it slightly more restful for the adults would have been some play equipment or football goals in our garden, easier to supervise.Visited Sidmouth which was a lovely town to walk around. - Amato

10/10 - Amazing place, amazing service, pity we couldn’t stay longer! Plenty of things to do but our recommendation would be to drive to the coast for a day at the beach. - Vlachakis

10/10 - The whole experience was smooth running. Highly recommend and would not hesitate to use Sleeps 12 in the future. The property is first class. Beautiful location. Beautiful inside. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend. Even storm Ciara didn't disrupt our weekend!! Fantastic memories made for everyone. Thank you!! Most of the group went off to do clay shooting as part of the activities whilst we were there at Devon Pursuits. This comes highly recommended. - Gunn

10/10 - Amazing place to stay, very clean and well equipped. The only improvement would be a bench or something to put towels on when using the hot tub. - Fenn

10/10 - I can’t thank sleeps12 enough, you have been amazing. The house was beautiful, was immaculate, the suggestions on your website were fantastic, we decided to hire in the Italian chef. FANTASTIC idea and so reasonable. - Dawes

10/10 - Plenty of space for 3 family to explore and spend time together whilst not being to top of each other. We visited Sidmouth Coast and Wildwood. - McFarland

9/10 - Whispering Thatch is a delightful property in a lovely area. There is plenty to do on site and in the near vicinity. There were however, a few maintenance issues during our stay but almost all were dealt with promptly. It is ideal for a holiday for an extended family with all age groups like ours - and the older members of the party particularly appreciated their annex accommodation! We can recommend days out to Charmouth and Exmouth beaches for children. Walks up to Dumpdon Hill Fort from Whispering Thatch. - Burank
