Aisholt Common, Somerset
Aisholt Common is a wild and at times, rugged plateau on the Quantock Hills in Somerset, with breathtaking views that stretch for miles; go for an amble here and you'll feel close to nature and at one with the elements; feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, hear only the birdsong and the occasional scamper of wild creatures in the undergrowth.
Walk from the village of Aisholt, across the common to Will’s Neck, the highest point on the whole of the Quantocks. The terrain is heathland tracks through bracken and heather, rich in flora and fauna. Wear sensible footwear and take a picnic, or time your walk perfectly for lunch at one of the local country pubs - The Rising Sun at West Bagborough and the Lamb Inn at Spaxton are both good.
