This place is well worth considering if you like cycling, particularly if you're staying at one of the fabulous Sleeps 12 properties close by - Holemoor Stables, Flossy Brook or Beaverbrook 20 or 30. They do bike hire and there's no shortage of places to go for a day's ride - there's an old railway line between Chard and Ilminster with flat, level paths and you can venture up onto the trails on Herne Hill or stop for a break at the George Inn at Donyatt. On the Blackdown Hills there's the Herepath at Staple Fitzpaine, a circular trail of over 13 miles that shows you some of the most incredible views of the Somerset countryside. You can cycle round the roads and lanes in these hills and you'll find several charming watering holes where you can stop for a bite to eat or a pint in the beer garden - The Candlelight Inn at Bishopswood, The Holman Clavel at Culmhead, The Half Moon at Clayhidon and the Greyhound at Staplefitzpaine are all very welcoming and excellent examples of the country pubs you'll find in these parts.
