The House
Step in through the door at Foxcombe to an enormous open plan living/entertaining space, flooded with natural light from full height doors along one side; when it’s warm out, have them open, let the sunshine roll on in. Straight in front of you there’s a very snazzy kitchen that’s fully equipped with everything you need to take the stress out of catering for your large group. In the middle of the room there’s a chunky dining table, at the far end a huge U-shape sofa means you can cosy up for movie nights.
Right of the living space are Bedrooms 1-3, all with ensuite shower rooms. All the bedrooms at Foxcombe have TVs and zip and link beds (super king or twin).
Just past the kitchen area, stairs take you upstairs to the mezzanine landing which doubles up as games area with table football, to Bedrooms 4 and 5, both with ensuite bathrooms, and to Bedroom 6, which has its own shower room.
If the weather is good, you’ll spend many happy hours out on the patio where there’s garden furniture and huge parasols to shade you from the heat of the sun; fire up the barbecue, get the steaks sizzling, serve ice cold drinks. Opposite the main living space is the indoor heated pool, exclusively yours for the whole of your stay; ramp up that holiday vibe by opening the floor to ceiling doors and letting the sunshine roll on in. Younger children will love the play area with a trampoline, a slide and swings.
Local Area
On the doorstep are the rufty-tufty Quantock Hills; go and explore, lace up your boots and stroll up through sun dappled combes to come out on bracken clad- ridges where wild ponies feed and the views stretch far across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Pack a picnic and climb to the top of Wills Neck, the highest point in the hills, go pond dipping in the nature reserve at Fyne Court.
Head over to say hello to the animals at Tropiquaria Wildlife Park for a great family day out, take a steam train to the coast with the West Somerset Railway and while away an afternoon playing on the sands at Blue Anchor or Minehead. Go fossil hunting and rockpooling at Kilve, then have a cream tea at The Chantry Tea Gardens. Pootle into Taunton to browse the Museum of Somerset and play on the high ropes course at Vivary Golf and Adventure Centre.
Exmoor National Park isn’t far – go have an adventure, discovering the dramatic clifftops, rugged moors, and lush river valleys, the picturesque villages and little tea rooms. Cross the ancient clapper bridge at Tarr Steps, amble along the river at Watersmeet, stroll around the pretty village of Dunster and visit the Medieval castle high on the hill.
Fancy going out out for eats? The Farmers Arms at Combe Florey and the Rising Sun at West Bagborough are both good country pubs, or for something different, The Lethbridge Arms at Bishops Lydeard serves authentic Thai food.
Happy days + blissful nights = amazing memories, and that’s what it’s all about, because memories last forever.
