Valleys Reach sits snugly on a hillside with lush Somerset countryside all around; the peace and quiet make for an idyllic country holiday, the views across the valley where the River Tone slips merrily along are spectacular. Here’s where you get to reconnect and catch up with close friends and family, to enjoy extra special times.

The House

The feels here are so gentle and homely from the moment you step inside; it’s like your favourite great aunt has lent you her country house for a while, so warm, so welcoming. Right of the hall is the living room, with heritage red walls and a wood-burner for the colder days and nights. Next is the drawing room, with comfy seating for all. Round to the left of the hall are the games room with a half size snooker table, and the dining room, where French doors open onto the terrace. Next to the dining room the kitchen with its utility area and scullery, is very well equipped for catering for large groups.

The bedrooms are all upstairs and are so in keeping with the style of the house. 4 have ensuite bathrooms, the others use the family bathroom or the downstairs shower room. An adjacent self-contained annexe with a double bedroom and ensuite wet room can accommodate 2 extra guests (extra charge – see our Extras page); this is perfect for an elderly couple who like to turn in a little earlier than the rest of you.

At the back of the house there’s a covered outdoor area and a large courtyard with a hot tub and outdoor furniture. A terrace that runs along the front of the house gives wonderful views over the valley – a great spot for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Across the drive is the lawned garden, and next to it, a large paddock for field games and picnics.

Local Area

There’s plenty to see and do within a short drive of Valleys Reach; down in the valley you can stroll through Hurstone Nature Reserve, footpaths and bridleways will take you up and down the hills, through ancient copses, and across open fields.

Just a few miles away is Exmoor National Park where a diverse landscape waits to be explored; rugged wind-blown moors, heather topped heaths where wild ponies roam free, dramatic cliff tops, steep wooded hillsides, and scenic river valleys. Amble along the river at Watersmeet, cross the ancient clapper bridge over the River Barle at Tarr Steps, climb to the top of Dunkery Beacon for panoramic views that will astound you.

Ride the steam train to the coast with the West Somerset Railway; spend the day on the sands at Minehead or Blue Anchor. See how Somerset cider is made at Sheppy’s Cider, soak up the tranquillity of Cleeve Abbey, drift along the Grand Western Canal on a horse drawn barge at Tiverton.

Valleys Reach is a gorgeous house in a gorgeous little corner of the world; it weaves its magic all around you, it’s where precious memories will be made.
