10/10 - The old rectory was amazing, the attention to detail and cleanliness was above and beyond, perfect in every way. There were 11 of us celebrating 40 years of leaving school and there was everything we needed and more. The bedrooms, and bathrooms were fantastic, the kitchen had everything, and the lounges were cosy and comfortable. The hot tub was perfect. We do annual group gatherings as a large party and this was the best we had ever stayed in and can't wait to return next year, totally would recommend it. I would just mention there are no TV in the bedrooms and only 2 TVs in the house, we definitely didn't want or need them, one in the lounge and one in the playroom for children that had loads of toys and games which we didn't use but some of us used the room for yoga/ pilates. The snooker/pool table was a lovely addition. There was nothing we could fault. t was a met & greet on arrival and was very informative, the owner lived next door and was friendly and helpful. - Bush - March 24

10/10 - We had the most amazing stay at this property. Very clean and everything you would need - the owner and housekeeper were on call for any problems and the children’s playroom had plenty of toys to keep them occupied. We cannot thank Catherine enough for such a great way to spend a 70th birthday surrounded by 16 family members. We hope to visit again. - Rowe

10/10 - The house was spotlessly clean, which was marvellous. There were 13 adults in the party, for a week, so there were a lot of bottles and general recycling, which was removed regularly so that we didn't have to visit a recycling centre. This was particularly convenient! The house is even nicer than the pictures on the website would lead one to expect - I don't think that the experience could have been improved. - Weaver

10/10 - The house was so beautiful, exceptionally clean and tidy. It had everything you could possibly need for a weekend/week away. Were already looking to go back. Would highly recommend this house!!! AMAZING STAY. - Glen

10/10 - Beautiful house, stunning location and everything we needed. - Berry

10/10 - The house was fantastic. It was in a lovely position and felt spacious inside and out. It was well equipped and had been finished to a high standard throughout. Everything was immaculate and little touches like toiletries in the bathrooms and bath robes made it feel luxurious. It was ideal for a multi-generational family gathering and was particularly well set up to accommodate children whatever the weather with the play area outside and additional children's games room inside. The large hot tub was a bonus. We all had a wonderful time and would highly recommend The Old Rectory to anyone looking for a characterful large house to gather family and friends. - Drage

10/10 - Sleeps 12 was so helpful and prompt with all communication. The property itself was faultless. Just a 5 mins drive from the property is St Audries Bay, it’s a short but very steep walk down to a fabulous beach which has a waterfall, perfect place to take a leisurely picnic near the waterfall. - Zambardi

10/10 - House was beautiful and the owner was very helpful and on hand (but unobtrusive). Wonderfully historical house (inside and out). The Old Rectory is opposite a beautiful church and a little further up the road is the old school house - a great location for a relaxing escape but close to amenities. Gardens were immaculate and the kids loved playing on the climbing frame. Hot tub was a hit also! Doniford Farm Park - wonderful local farm shop with fresh produce and cafe. Great to sit outside with a sea view. - Sergeant

9/10 - Great days at Dunster Beach and Fossil hunting at Kilve Beach. - Angel

9/10 - The weather was pretty awful but a walk to St Audries waterfall was really nice. But staying in this beautiful place was good enough. The wind seemed to whistle through the windows in the bed rooms, I thought this was quite relaxing but my partner didn't. - Johnson

Response: "It was such a shame that your stay coincided with storm Ciara, we hope that you managed to enjoy your stay despite this." - Sleeps12

There was plenty of space for people to do their own thing, and come together for meals. All our group of various ages went to Dunster Castle and met up there for lunch, which was enjoyed by all. - Turner

8/10 - It was really helpful to have our food shopping received at the property and put away for us as we were delayed due to traffic. Really enjoyed having the hot tub and children's play equipment. 9/10 - A delightful property with plenty of amenities, especially enjoyed the snooker table. - Roberts

9/10 - Lovely setting and sea views. Large comfortable rooms. The reason it’s not 10 out of 10 - just a few niggles like a badly sticking bedroom door. The owner was great and very willing to put things right for us. We visited Dunster and it’s castle. West Somerset railway. - Harrison

10/10 - We were blown away by the house, the owners were very helpful and made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed the Chantry Tea Gardens and walking along the cliffs. - Osborne

9/10 - The house is very spacious and the bathrooms are exceptional - we had a fabulous stay. The setting is also lovely - the views would have been wonderful if it were not for the clouds during our stay! We also loved the hot tub, gardens & kids play area. Had a lovely and easy walk in the Quantocks - Bicknoller Hill is only 5 minutes drive from the house, although a steep and narrow drive up! Note - Porlock Weir is several minutes drive from Porlock village - we made that mistake! Also check tide times as the Weir is pretty disappointing when the tide is out, as other than a pub and a couple of small shops there's nothing much there! - Da Gama

9/10 - We visited St. Audries Bay - Waterfalls on to the beach. Kilve Beach & Cliff top walk. Kings Wood, Ramscombe - streams, picnic benches & pine trees. The property could do with another cooker/oven. - Foster

10/10 - We loved the style of The Old Rectory with the large bedrooms and well appointed bathrooms. The downstairs area was perfect for our family of 17 from age 3 to 93 - a good selection of rooms and the bonus of real woodburners to make it cosy. With the stunning views from the front bedroom windows of the sea and St. Audries church it was very picturesque. We drove to Kilve Beach and looked for fossils. Also we had Birds Hill Days come and teach archery one morning. It was brilliant and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activity. - Stringer

10/10 - The house was spotlessly clean and furnished beautifully. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen well equipped. The hot tub very welcoming. We can recomend walking the hills. - Bryars

10/10 - The house is extremely spacious, spotlessly clean and well fitted out through out, the owners obviously care about their property. The kitchen was great for cooking large meals. Pete was there if needed but not at all intrusive. A perfect house for a large group. Kilve Beach for fossil hunting, Dunster Castle. We also rented mountain bikes from Pompys Cycles who delivered. - Roberts

10/10 - It was like living in a good country house hotel without the staff. Just perfect for our family of 20. For those interested in history Cleeve Abbey. Dunster Castle is ok but a bit limited. Exmoor is stunning and so are the Quantocks on the doorstep. St Audries Waterfall on the foreshore is very difficult to reach. You either walk a mile east or west to a caravan park and locate steps down to the sea. Only go at low tide. - Tompkins

10/10 - We stayed at the Old Rectory for a surprise 30th birthday and had an incredible time from start to finish. First pulling up to the house was a real 'WOW' moment, and waking up in the morning to such amazing views was just wonderful. The rooms were fantastic, really spacious and comfortable with mostly en suites. The hot tub and games room got a lot of use and the living rooms were spacious enough to fit us all comfortably. We would definitely recommend the Old Rectory to others and thank you very much for having us. Hopefully see you again soon! - Mavers

10/10 - The house was beautiful - and soo clean! Really was a spectacle going up the drive for everyone who stayed. It also had everything we could need - really appreciated the welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee and the mini shower gels, shampoos and conditioners in each room! Perfect weekend stay! - Curtis

10/10 - The house was brilliant and had everything we needed. - Hewitt

10/10 - We had a great time and the rooms were very spacious with lots of different areas to gather. The kitchen was great and we found everything we needed for cooking a meal on both nights for all of us. Thank you for a great stay! We did a lovely walk over the Quantocks to Holford. - Cashmore

8/10 - We were very grateful for the help throughout the week from Pete the manager. He was there when you needed him and otherwise not seen. Always upbeat and optimistic with easy answers to problems. Made a considerable difference to have him around. The rooms were excellent: we actually needed more twin bedded rooms for our grandchildren but we managed. Kitchen extensive and well equipped. Playroom well equipped for all ages of grandchild as there was an x-box and lego of all types. Games room had table tennis and snooker and the garden a climbing frame in excellent condition. Big tub a great success. Wi-fi variable but I expect that is the local provision not that of the house. Several of us had to keep up with work from afar and the variableness not easy to cope with. we would have given it 10 if it had had an indoor swimming pool and then the pebbly nature of the beaches would not have mattered so much. We had a good day going on the steam train from Watchet to Dunster Castle with a picnic it was excellent. Nice browsing in Dunster shops. Good walk along the coastal path from Kilve beach. - Phillips

10/10 - We loved the layout of the house and gardens. All very well designed for smooth running. It was great to play table tennis with my sons and the games room was well used. The children loved the accessible playroom. Great kitchen. We enjoyed staying in the gardens and the children, aged 1-11 loved the apparatus and just playing together in the big house. The adults loved the hot tub and chilling out! Our only trip out was to Blue Harbour beach and as it is stony and the water muddy I would not recommend it. - Knight

9/10 - Good size house, well maintained. Some small niggles: sensor lights in the hallway were annoying and not practical with small children and sleep routines. - Wolfenden

9/10 - Lovely house and recommend Gayla Stewart coming to cater at the house. Amazingly we can’t think of any improvements needed! We visited Tropiquaria and can recommend for a day out. - Wolstencroft

9/10 - The children enjoyed the play equipment. Overall the house was lovely, very spacious and in a beautiful location. - Pine

10/10 - It had everything we needed extremely well equipped. - Nash

10/10 - the size of the place was amazing, the range of activities in the house was great, the only very mild criticism is that if the hot tub could be topped up with water, but it was cleaned throughout the stay which was great. At one point when cooking we accidentally set the fire alarm off and we couldn't turn it off but someone appeared very quickly to turn it off so I wouldn't call that a complaint as it was dealt with even without asking which was great. - Gough

10/10 - We had a walk around some of the circular paths as recommended on the map. Amazing scenery. - Howarth
